St. Bendict's School in Ealing is the only Catholic Independent School for senior boys in London. It is managed by the Benedictine monks of Ealing Abbey and has some 800 boys between the ages of 4 and 18.
From the Pre-prep Department to A Levels and Oxford and Cambridge entry the boys follow a broad range of academic subjects, as well as art, music, drama and sport.
In the Sixth Form girls are welcomed, joining from a wide range of schools across London. The basic entry requirement is five GCSE passes at grade C or better.
The classics are a feature at the School with Latin and Greek studied to GCSE and A Level. Spanish, German and French have gained from satellite transmissions direct from the Continent. Design and Technology are another strength of the School, housed in modern rooms adjacent to a new Sports Hall.
At the centre is the Abbey with its monks, a feature of London over the last hundred years. The Benedictine vows of stability seems to enthuse and influence the activities of the School raised in its shadow.
